Our 2004 Redvine Series consists of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petite Syrah, and 10% Syrah. This proprietary blend’s name derives from “Redvine Sandy Clay Loam,” the deep, well-drained alluvial soil shared by our two source vineyards, Heart Arrow and Fairbairn Ranches. Both vineyards are located along the upper Russian River watershed in Mendocino County, California.
The Heart Arrow Ranch is situated at 1700’ elevation on bench lands north of Ukiah and includes plantings of three clones of Cabernet Sauvignon: 7, 15, and 337. Fairbairn Ranch is located on a 600’ elevation river terrace along the Sanel Valley’s southeastern edge and includes plantings of Clone 3 Syrah and Petite Syrah. Both ranches are Demeter-certified Biodynamic®.
Each vineyard block is hand-harvested. The grapes are fermented and aged separately and blended prior to bottling. Our 2004 vintage was barrel-aged for 14 months in select French oak.
The Cabernet Sauvignon’s rich black cherry, plum, and tannins are softened by the addition of Syrah. The Petite Syrah adds ripe black fruits and density. Together, all three varietals create a complex aromatic profile.
Our Redvine Series – approachable in its youth - is intended to develop well in the glass or with decanting, but also promises to age beautifully. Enjoy!
