We produced our 2006 Syrah with 100% Syrah grapes grown at the fabled Fairbairn Ranch in Ukiah Valley’s southeastern bench lands. Fairbairn Ranch is Demeter-certified Biodynamic.<br aria-setsize="0" aria-posinset="0" aria-level="0" /><br aria-setsize="0" aria-posinset="0" aria-level="0" />Fairbairn’s Redvine Soils are consistent with our other high-elevation vineyard sites in the Ukiah Valley. These soils create a unique terroir, increasingly recognized for producing distinct wines. These gravelly and well-drained Redvine soils are high in iron and reddish in color.<br aria-setsize="0" aria-posinset="0" aria-level="0" /><br aria-setsize="0" aria-posinset="0" aria-level="0" />We selectively harvested the crop in two lots to optimize quality and also to retain the unique flavor profiles of different vineyard microclimates. We separately fermented the two lots and aged them in the finest French oak barrels, blending the lots prior to bottling. <br aria-setsize="0" aria-posinset="0" aria-level="0" /> <br aria-setsize="0" aria-posinset="0" aria-level="0" />Our 2006 Syrah shows uncommon depth and color. It exhibits aromatic profiles of smoked game, blueberries and ripe black cherry. This wine will continually develop over time or with decanting.</p>
