Our 2004 Redvine Series consists of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petite Syrah, and 10% Syrah. This proprietary blend’s name derives from “Redvine Sandy Clay Loam,” the deep, well-drained alluvial soil shared by our two source vineyards, Heart Arrow and Fairbairn Ranches. Both vineyards are located along the upper Russian River watershed in Mendocino County, California.<br /><br />The Heart Arrow Ranch is situated at 1700’ elevation on bench lands north of Ukiah and includes plantings of three clones of Cabernet Sauvignon: 7, 15, and 337. Fairbairn Ranch is located on a 600’ elevation river terrace along the Sanel Valley’s southeastern edge and includes plantings of Clone 3 Syrah and Petite Syrah. Both ranches are Demeter-certified Biodynamic®.<br /><br />Each vineyard block is hand-harvested. The grapes are fermented and aged separately and blended prior to bottling. Our 2004 vintage was barrel-aged for 14 months in select French oak.<br /><br />The Cabernet Sauvignon’s rich black cherry, plum, and tannins are softened by the addition of Syrah. The Petite Syrah adds ripe black fruits and density. Together, all three varietals create a complex aromatic profile. <br /><br />Our Redvine Series – approachable in its youth - is intended to develop well in the glass or with decanting, but also promises to age beautifully.
